Several Zausmer attorneys recently presented at the Insurance Alliance of Michigan’s Insurance and the Law Virtual Seminar for Claims Professionals.
Presented on September 21, 2020, the popular educational event covered topics including property claims, no-fault auto, and fraud. Associates Dan Jedell and Breanne Patton both presented on topics relating to COVID-19. Dan’s presentation focused on existing and anticipated COVID-19 liability claims across major insurance coverage lines, and strategies for carriers and risk managers to consider and implement in the wake of this novel pandemic. Breanne concentrated her presentation on Workers’ Compensation and Federal and State Legislative updates during the pandemic.
Shareholder Jim Wright and Associate Danielle DePriest presented on the Department of Insurance and Financial Service (DIFS) and a series of bulletins issued after no-fault reform went into effect. Their presentation provided insight into interpreting these bulletins and their impact on claims handling. In particular, they provided an in-depth discussion of bulletin 2020-33-INS, which addresses a carrier’s obligation to collect documentation of qualified health coverage.
Shareholders Heidi Hudson and Nicole Wright discussed the recent flooding in Midland, Michigan, its aftermath, and the claims that have arisen.
The Insurance Alliance of Michigan (IAM) is a leading voice and trusted source for property and casualty insurers in Michigan, representing the majority of auto, home, and business insurance companies across the state.
