On February 19, 2016, the attorneys and staff at Zausmer went “Casual for a Cause” to raise funds for Rett syndrome, a cause close to the hearts of our friends at American Claims Management, Inc.
Unfamiliar to many people, Rett syndrome is a unique postnatal neurological disorder that is first recognized in infants and which impacts brain functions responsible for learning and cognitive development, speech, movement, breathing, cardiac function, and even chewing, swallowing, and digestion. Often misdiagnosed as autism or cerebral palsy, Rett syndrome is found in all racial and ethnic groups, and occurs worldwide in one of every 10,000 female births, more rarely in boys.
Rettsyndrome.org coordinates, cultivates, accelerates, and funds research that will produce a cure for Rett syndrome, and make the lives of people living with Rett syndrome richer and free of pain and discomfort. The organization also assists families of individuals living with Rett syndrome and raises public awareness about the disorder.
