Heart 2 Hart is dedicated to helping those in need.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, volunteers go out into the city’s streets to hand out life-sustaining items to hundreds of homeless Detroiters. They also provide critical assistance such as connecting people to community service organizations, rehab facilities, estranged family members, and even potential employers.
The statistics regarding the approximately 20,000 homeless people in Detroit are stunning:
- 25% are children
- 13% are veterans
- 60% are families with children
- 50% have some form of mental illness
- There are currently only enough shelter beds for 1,900 people
On November 6th, the Zausmer family collected donations of money, food items, socks, undergarments, toiletries, and candy to support these important outreach efforts. As Heart to Hart aptly reminds us, “These people desperately need our assistance because they’re homeless…not helpless” – and we are proud to lend a hand.

Every other Friday, Zausmer goes “Casual for a Cause,” allowing attorneys and employees to dress down in exchange for a donation to a designated charity. A different charity is selected each time – if you have a suggestion for a worthy cause, please let us know!
