In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Zausmer is spotlighting shareholder and Executive Committee Member Nicole M. Wright.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month recognizes the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Nicole, who was born in Korea, is committed to making sure her culture stays alive and is a part of her everyday life. “Acknowledging, honoring, and celebrating your culture is important,” Nicole said. “You should be proud of where you are from. My culture and background make me who I am.”
As a member of Zausmer’s Executive Committee, as well as a member of the Diversity Committee, Nicole knows the importance of a diverse workplace. “Having a diverse environment and inclusive culture allows our clients to feel at home and seen while working with us,” Nicole said. “It is important that everyone feels represented and heard.”
In the legal profession, diversity is essential. “Diversity equals creativity. Each person, background, and culture bring in a new perspective,” Nicole said. “We are able to work collaboratively and bring all of our unique perspectives together to make sure our clients are being represented in the way that best suits their needs.”
Nicole shared what she believes is the best way to continue the growth of diversity and representation. “Educating others on different cultures mitigates the potential for ignorance brought upon by lack of knowledge,” Nicole said. “The more we educate and share our cultures, the more representation we will see in the media, community, and workforce.”
