Daniel I. Jedell has a proven track record of success defending high-stakes fire and explosion cases, construction, complex torts, professional liability and employment litigation claims, and business and commercial disputes, both at the trial level and before appellate courts.
Dan leads the firm’s Fire and Explosion Litigation practice. A member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), Dan works closely with origin and cause experts and forensic engineers to investigate fires, gas explosions, product failures, and other catastrophic losses involving residential, commercial, and industrial facilities and equipment. Dan has defended numerous wrongful death, personal injury, and property loss claims on behalf of business owners, landlords, and commercial contractors. Dan also serves as outside general liability counsel to a statewide property management company.
Dan handles cases that often hinge on complex medical, engineering, and scientific subjects, and frequently involve excess exposure. His ability to interpret intricate issues, develop creative strategies, and persuasively present the facts and law in ways that judges and juries understand accounts for the impressive results he consistently delivers for his clients. Recently, Dan secured the dismissal of a multi-million dollar construction accident case involving a traumatic brain injury. In 2019, Dan prevailed on an appeal affirming his dismissal of malpractice and discrimination claims against a licensed psychologist, resulting in a published Michigan Court of Appeals decision creating new legal precedent. Dan has consistently been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star® in civil litigation defense.
