Michigan Receives $129M EPA Grant to Accelerate Renewable Energy Projects

As Michigan advances its clean energy initiatives, Zausmer offers expert legal support to navigate this growing sector.

Crain’s Detroit recently reported that Michigan will be awarded $129 million from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to expedite the siting, zoning, and permitting of renewable energy projects. This funding, part of a $4.3 billion initiative under the Inflation Reduction Act, aims to advance the state’s clean energy goals by supporting projects such as solar, wind, and energy storage.

The $129 million grant will help Michigan meet its ambitious renewable energy targets, including achieving a 50% renewable-energy credit portfolio by 2030 and 100% clean energy by 2040. The funding will also bolster local efforts by expanding the Renewables Ready Communities program, which incentivizes municipalities to facilitate renewable projects.

Zausmer is poised to support these developments through its comprehensive energy law services. Our team, led by Stephen Estey and Devin Sullivan, offers expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments, managing land acquisitions, and addressing environmental compliance issues.
