An enthusiastic group of Association of Corporate Counsel Michigan members gathered at Comerica Park on July 10, 2024 for an evening of professional evelopment, networking, and baseball fun sponsored by Zausmer.
To kick off the event, Executive Coach Susan Diehl captivated the audience with a dynamic presentation entitled “Level Up! Manage Your Leadership Journey and Gain Executive Presence.” Her session drew on over 20 years of experience in coaching leaders and teams, focusing on the development of leadership qualities and effective team dynamics.
Susan’s talk was an interactive blend of strategic advice and real-world applications designed to encourage attendees to evaluate their career satisfaction, define clear goals, and enhance their leadership skills and business acumen. She reminded attendees that “lawyers are learners,” and provided practical ways to be results-driven by starting with the end in mind. She emphasized the importance of questioning over knowing, suggesting, “It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about having all the questions,” and advised attendees to bridge the gap between current skills and needed skills with a well-structured plan.
To reinforce the day’s lessons, each attendee received a copy of James Clear’s best-selling book, “Atomic Habits,” linking the book’s themes of small changes leading to major impacts to the day’s discussions on personal and professional growth.
After the presentation, attendees enjoyed a Detroit Tigers game from a private suite. The evening provided an opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues and forge new relationships, and underscored ACC Michigan and Zausmer’s commitment to fostering professional growth.
